Rosny-Aîné et Cyrano 2019

Comme annoncés sur le site Actu SF, les résultats des prix décernés à la Convention 2019 der L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue: Samedi, les ont été décernés lors de la convention française de science-fiction qui se tenait à L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Dans la catégorie nouvelle, c'est Ne signe pas ça Chloé, de Stéphane Croenne qui remporte cette édition. Tandis qu' Estelle Faye remporte celui de la catégorie roman avec son space opera, Les Nuages de Magellan, aux Editions Scrineo ! De son côté, Danielle Martinigol a reçu le prix Cyrano pour l'ensemble de sa carrière. Elle a entre autre écrit les Aventures à Guedelon, (Actusf) et dernièrement L'Odeur du jour (Hachette).

Prix Européens 2019

Grâce à une excellente défense de notre représentante, plusieurs français ont encore cette année reçu des prix européens à l'Eurocon de Belfast: Meilleur artiste Nicolas Fructus Meilleure oeuvre de fiction Spire, de Laurent Génefort et un Chrysalis Award (meilleur auteur débutant) à Florence Soulas. Une parution attendue depuis longtemps

Cela fait bien trente ans au moins que j'ai découvert, par hasard, oublié dans un magasin de photocopies, un livre de SF dont j'avais lu le titre dans l'Histoire de la Science Fiction, de Jacques Sadoul, signalé comme important. C'était The Heads of Cerberus, de Francis Stevens. Après l'avoir lu, j'ai recherché des informations sur l'auteur et ai appris que c'était Gertrude Barrows (veuve Bennett), qui n'a publié qu'entre 1917 et 1923 et qui, grâce à des rééditions, en particulier dans les pulps des années 40 grâce à l'intervention d'Abraham Merritt, est devenue un auteur culte aux Etats-Unis. En France, Jacques Sadoul avait publié une nouvelle d'elle, "L'Île amie", dans Les Meilleurs Récits de Famous Fantastic Mysteries. Puis Jean-Pierre Laigle a publié dans Antarès n°12 "L'Horreur invisible", et a publié en trois brochures l'intégrale de ses nouvelles, mais en anglais. Enfin Wendigo n°2 publiait, il y a quelques année, "Le Pièoe à elfes". ERt c'était tout, alors que plusieurs romans, maintes fois réédittés aux Etats-Unis, restaient inconnus du public français. Grâce à la traduction de Michel Pagel et à l'éditeur Marie Barbier, le premier de ses romans, paru en 1920 et certainement apprécié par Lovecraft qui aurait écrit son appréciation sort aujourd'hui en français, sous le titre Le Coffret des abîmes, et le second, La Citadelle de la Peur, devrait arriver bientôt. J'ai lu (relu puisque j'avais le texte original en fichier depuis des années)et apprécié ce roman fantastique et ne saurais trop vous inviter à l'acheter... ainsi que les autres, bien sûr. La couverture est de Bilal, autre amateur de l'oeuvre de Francis Stevens.
